The Ian Pettigrew Shield is our annual HCCF Gala Day & Fundraiser, held in honour of Ian Pettigrew and his incredible dedication to our association. This special event is not just about football — it’s about community, generosity, and making a difference.

All proceeds from the day go to the Mark Hughes Foundation, supporting vital research in memory of Ian, who sadly passed away in 2014 after a courageous 16-month battle with Brain Cancer.

Who Was Ian Pettigrew?

Ian Pettigrew was more than just a leader — he was a pillar of our community. A life member and past president of Hunter Christian Churches Football (HCCF), Ian believed in giving back and was deeply involved in numerous community initiatives. He also served as President of the Federal Park Local Committee, ensuring thousands of athletes and players across various sports could access top-quality facilities. His tireless dedication left a lasting impact, and we honour his legacy through this annual event.
